Batik Day 2016 (part 1 of 3)

Batik Day (Hari Batik Nasional) is an Indonesian holiday for celebrating batik, the traditional cloth of Indonesia. It is celebrated on October 2, as the anniversary of when UNESCO recognized batik as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2009.

Belfast’s Indonesian community marked the holiday with a special celebration at Queen’s University Belfast. I was honoured to attend and take some photos.

This page is the first of three parts. See also part 2 and part 3.
